My interest in art began at a very early age. Like many artists, I started by doodling on anything I could find—bits of paper, cardboard, cigarette packets, used raffle tickets—whatever came to hand. I drew everything: people, planes, dogs, cats, landscapes, buildings. You name it—I drew it. I simply loved drawing.
When I was 24, a local art gallery approached me with an offer to paint exclusively for them. But as many artists know, a full-time art career is often precarious. I needed a steady income to raise and support a family. While my career took most of my time, I continued to paint in my spare moments using my favourite medium: gouache. I didn’t sell my work; instead, I gifted it to friends and family.
During one trip to London, I visited a military art exhibition and discovered a new passion—painting military figurines on 90mm scale models. I immersed myself in military history, studying hundreds of regiments and the fascinating variety of uniforms and colours. The result was a collection of treasured pieces that still stand proudly in display cabinets around my home.
About thirty years ago, I walked into a showroom and saw a computer displaying vivid digital graphics. That moment sparked a whole new adventure for me: creating art without traditional tools. No easel, no paint, no mess—and thanks to laptops, the freedom to paint anywhere. Although I still occasionally work with gouache and watercolours, my love for digital art has only grown stronger.
Today, I work with advanced computers and printers that allow me to use a palette of hundreds of colours and an expansive range of virtual brushes. Where I once needed magnifying glasses to capture fine detail, I now zoom in digitally to perfect every nuance. This technology allows me to create highly detailed, high-quality artwork like never before.
