My name is David Rees Morgan.

My interest in art started at a very early age. Like many artists I started doodling on any bit of paper, cardboard, cigarette packet or used raffle ticket that came to  hand. I drew everything; people, planes, dogs, cats, landscapes, buildings, you name it, I drew it, I just loved drawing.

When I was 24, I was approached by a local art gallery that wanted me to paint exclusively for them. Unfortunately, work as a full-time artist is, and always will be, precarious. I needed to earn a regular income to raise and support a family.  Although most of my time was taken with a steady career, I did, however, manage to continue painting in my spare time with Gouache, the medium I loved most. I didn’t sell my work but gave it to friends and family.

On one of my trips into London, I visited a military art exhibition and found a new love; military figurine painting on 90mm scale models. I studied the military history of hundreds of regiments, and the plethora of uniform designs and  colours. I created treasured pieces that are still displayed in cabinets in my home.

About thirty years ago, I came across a computer in a showroom displaying wonderful graphics. That was enough to start me on a new adventure, the creation of beautiful art without the traditional materials. No easel, no paints, no water, no mess and with the advent of laptops, I became free to paint anywhere.  I still paint occasional Gouache and watercolour pictures, but my love for computer art has grown from strength to strength. The computer allows me to paint highly detailed work of the finest quality. When I was young, I was fanatical about detail and used to work wearing magnifying glasses but, with today’s  technology, I can zoom in to capture every nuance of any subject. I now use highly sophisticated computers and printers that enable me to choose from a palette of  hundreds of colours and a vast array of brushes.

Using this art form, I can offer bespoke commissions. So, if you have an idea in mind, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I hope you enjoy my gallery.
